Cables…a whole new world

It’s been a while since I posted on Blue Crocus. I’ve been busy trying to finish a sweater for myself…I’m about there…truthfully, I’ve got a lot of knitting still ahead of me.

In the meantime, I took a cables class at my local yarn shop, Wool for Ewe. I have always been in awe of those who can knit cables, so when the class was first advertized at Wool for Ewe, I was the first to sign up.

Our project was a coffee cozy to fit a french press pot.  It wasn’t as hard as I thought and I’ve purchased some supplies to make a hot water bottle cover…which is a little more difficult, but I’m up for the challenge.

This is what the cozy looks like. It’s a little taller than my own french press so I folded it down at the top for it to fit and tied it up with ribbon.

I just love it.  I’m giving it to a friend for Christmas — don’t worry — I’ve got plenty of yarn to make another one.

Have you ever been scared of doing something/learning something new?

I know from experience that if I stop myself from trying/learning something new, I miss out on so much.  How about you?
